What is TLT?

Totally Live Trivia, an online trivia community with games played on AOL.

Where and when do I play TLT?
TLT is played in the AOL chat room "Arts and Entertainment-Totally Live Trivia." Games are played every hour on the hour beginning at 9pm EST. There are four games on Sunday-Thursday nights and three games on Friday and Saturday nights

Who are the people with TLT in their screen names?

Those are staffers. During each game there are usually three staffers: a Gamester, a Skeep, and a Room Owner.

Who is the person with the Bolt?
That is the Room Owner.

Why do they type in uppercase?
Gamesters and Skeeps are capped up so they are easily visible to the rest of the room.

Can I have my caps on?
Nope, we need only Gamester and Skeep to have caps on, so they are easily identifiable.

What is the scoring for the games?
Scoring changes with each game.

When do I find out what scoring and rules are?
At the begining and during halftime of each game.

Top Seven?
Yes, at the end of the game the Skeep will list the top seven scoring players. Feel free to congratulate them for their superior intelligence.

Does it count against me if I mistype an answer?
It doesn't count against you if the Skeep can tell what it is. (unless the game rules state that spelling counts). Our Skeeps are masters at reading typoese.

Why couldn't I change my answer before the buzzer when I realized it wasn't the correct answer?
You cannot change your answer because there is only one answer per player per question (before buzzer). If no players have given a correct answer before buzzer, the Gamester will give a hint and each player can guess the answer as many times as they like. These rules are uniform throughout all the games.

How do I get the sounds that are played in the game room?
You can find sounds at www.totallylivetrivia.com/sounds.

TLT GLOSSARY

Gamester
The person who runs the game and asks the questions.

Skeep
The score keeper.

Room Owner
Staffer who has the power to remove disruptive people from the room.

Halftime
Games are structured as follows: Gamester lists rules, then there are about 25 minutes of trivia. At half time-which lasts three minutes the Skeep will run scores so everyone can see how they've been doing. After halftime, rules are listed again, and the game continues. The game concludes at the end of the hour with Top Seven.

TRIP
3 points for having the only correct answer before buzzer

P.A.T.
1 point for being the first with the correct answer once time has expired and the gamester runs a hint.

Lemmer
Like the Russian rodents who follow each other blindly into the sea, a “trivia lemming” (lemmer) blindly copies another person’s answer. This is not cheating. The skill is knowing who to lem.

Lasties
The last correct answer before the buzzer. In some games a bonus point is awarded for last correct.

Typo
A mistyped word.

Typoese
The language you speak when you mistype words. (For example, the answer is “George Washington” and you accidentally type “Gorhege Wasjington”) Skeeps are usually highly skilled at deciphering your typoese.
